My name is Amanda Kirton and I survived a hemorrhagic stroke. "What is a hemorrhagic stroke?", you ask. My brain was filling up with blood. I was fortunate to be in Georgetown's Hospital when it happened. I came to the hospital complaining of stomach pain but it turns out I had a stroke instead. Georgetown Hospital immediately transferred me to St. Davids Main. I had all the bells and whistles. Too bad I didn't wake up for it. I will never forget July 26, 2017. The beginning of my new life.

I’m Blessed
I’m blessed I survived my stroke and all the medical
complications. I just saw a video of me from two years ago when I was walking
with my physical therapist. I was shocked at how unstable I was. I couldn’t
stand up without someone holding me. I have changed so much in 2 ½ years. Just
the other day, I stood and hugged my mom when we were leaving my parents’
house, and she said, “I forgot how tall you are.”
